Overview:
Setting up a new cycle for a sterilizer can be a time-consuming task as there are a large number of different parameters that must be set for each cycle.
A quick and easy way to set up a new cycle is to use the PSS8 controller‘s built-in copy cycle function.
An already configured cycle can be quickly copied to a new cycle number. After copying, the user simply has to modify a few parameters for the new cycle instead of entering a long list of data to get it set up for use.
If a cycle is no longer needed, it can be “deleted” using the valid cycles screen.
Copying Cycles
- Login in as a Supervisor or Administrator.
- Press the “MAINT ON” button and the Maintenance Screen will appear.
- Press the “VALID CYCLE” button to navigate to the “VALID CYCLES” screen, as shown in the reference screen below.
ADD ILLUSTRATION
- Select the “COPY FROM” button. A numeric entry pad will appear. Enter the number of the valid cycle to be copied. Select “Enter” on the keypad. The cycle number will be shown on the screen below the “FROM” label.
IMPORTANT!
Once the cycle number has been entered for the “COPY TO” function,
any information that was present for that cycle number will be
immediately overwritten by the copied data. Therefore, be very careful
when selecting/entering the new cycle number to avoid using a number
already in use.
- Select the “COPY TO” button. A numeric entry pad will appear. Enter the number for the new cycle and then select “Enter.” The cycle number will be shown on the screen below the “TO” label.
- The new cycle will also appear as a VALID cycle on the display. Use the “RETURN” button to go back to the Maintenance screen.
- Use the “SELECT CYCLE” to specify the new cycle to be modified.
- Use the “CYCLE PARAM” button to enter the Cycle Parameters screen where the individual parameters which need to be changed may be altered.
- Once the new cycle’s parameters have been adjusted, use the “RETURN” button to back out until arriving at the Maintenance screen. Select the “MAINT OFF” button.
- The new cycle is now available for use.
Deleting Cycles
There is no specific DELETE function for cycles.
Cycles cannot be deleted, but they can be marked as invalid, which means the cycle cannot be chosen as a valid cycle to run from the start screen. Cycles which have been marked as invalid are available for re-use.
- Login in as a Supervisor or Administrator.
- Press the “MAINT ON” button and the Maintenance Screen will appear.
- Press the “VALID CYCLE” button to navigate to the “VALID CYCLES” screen, as shown in the reference screen below.
- The screen will show a list of valid cycles in the box at the top of the screen. A cycle can be made “INVALID” (in effect “deleting it”) by selecting the green key corresponding to the number of the cycle to be removed.
- Once the cycle has been made invalid, the cycle number will no longer be shown in the box. The “invalid” cycle number can be re-selected during the COPY TO function and once again be available for use.
The cycle data is not erased, but it will no longer be available to be chosen from the start screen. If a mistake was made, simply re-selecting the green key will make the cycle available again. The cycle number will be shown in the display box.
