This article will serve as instructions for HOW TO REPLACE A GEMS BOILER CONTROL BOARD WITH A PROTO DESIGN BOARD ON A PRIMUS Healthcare STERILIZER. PN 401566

Instructions

Step 1

Remove all power from the boiler operational box.

Step 2

Loosen 4 screws and remove the lid of the Boiler Operational Box.

Step 3

Locate the Boiler Control board in the upper left corner of the Boiler Operational Box.

Remove wires.

Step 4

Remove the board with the appropriate tool pushing in on locking tabs on Board support(s).

Obtain an RMA number from PRIMUS.

With all the tabs pushed into the unlocked position and the board slightly lifted above the tabs, rewrap with material from the new board and send back the GEMS board to PRIMUS.

Write the RMA number on the outside of your box when sending back the GEMS board.

Step 6

Align all tabs for support on the boiler board.

Gently push inward until the tab is fully inserted and the board is secured.

Step 7

Begin reinstalling wires starting with the top right corner.

Install Black wire from the Control Pressure switch on the Common Post and Red wire from the power onto the normally open post (leaving the normally closed post empty).

In the middle of the board, install black wire out to float on the ground terminal.

Add power wire with the White wire going to the terminal directly under the transformer labeled L2.

The black wire is the power wire and will go to the terminal directly above the transformer. This terminal is labeled L1. Note that this is the opposite of the previous configuration.

Step 9

Add the wires associated with the Low water cutoff, Float, and the Boiler pump motor.

Locate the Wago 3 terminal connector (there will be a red, black, and white wire in this connector).

Place the provided red wire with the stripped end into the Wago wire connector with the other three wires.

Snap the terminal closed (see Figures 1.9 & 2.0 below).

Connect the other end of the Red wire to the LWCO LOW terminal on the level board.

Step 10

Drain the boiler via the manual boiler blowdown valve.

Watch the sight glass and let the water level get to the bottom of the sight glass.

Also, ensure that high voltage power is off at this point as we will be testing the function of the board.

Step 11

With high voltage off and the water lever low, TURN THE 120-volt POWER BACK ON.

Make sure that both switches are turned on.

With power inserted, the feed pump should call for water and filling the boiler while the contacts for the high-voltage contactor remain unmoved.

Look and listen for the click of the contactors being pulled in after a minute or so of fill.

If contacts immediately pull in when fired up, the float switch orientation will need to be changed.
